Africa We Want
This program is a pan-African network, based on Agenda 2063, developed by the African Union, focused on empowering youth to engage and take charge of our social, economic, political and cultural development. It is an integral part of our school-club philosophy as it aims to equip youth with the required skills to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Green Ambassadors
Nature is a gift from God to all generations. Therefore, the goal of this program is to create and maintain sustainable environmental awareness among youth and children. Through various trainings and activities in the context of the Green Child project, we educate on sanitation, deforestation prevention and renewable energy to promote ecological harmony and safeguard of God’s creation.
International exchanges
The program focuses on cultural exchanges of experience and values with international partners. This includes exchange of interns, students, volunteers as well as organizational models and participation in different national trainings. We at Cameroon-YMCA were honored to receive our first three interns from Denmark from August to December 2016 and from July to December 2017.
Training camps
National boot camps are designed to create spaces for youth from across the country to share and discuss relevant issues such as Christian values, personal development and education in various fields. A National Boot Camp is held once every two years and brings together approximately 500 youth from across the country. A camp can last from seven to ten days and is an opportunity for our members and others to be together and have great social and learning experiences. Every year, National Boot Camps are greatly appreciated by the participants and it is a great privilege for us to continue to host them.
S2C (Subject to Citizen)
The S2C (Subject to Citizen) philosophy aims to increase civic engagement amongst youth by developing their voice, access to spaces and ability to influence for positive change. In Cameroon, we train catalysts to educate and communicate the importance of youth engagement in local communities with their local union members. We also train and engage youth to contribute to fair and transparent elections in Cameroon. We create youth citizen clubs in cities, as well as YMCA clubs in schools, prisons, churches, and wherever young people find the importance of joining together to develop their communities.
