On December 21, 2019 at about 6:30 pm, the spotlights that brightly lit up for three days the National Quadrennial General Conference of Cameroon-YMCA in the festive hall of the Episcopal Conference at Mvolyé in Yaoundé, Central Region of Cameroon, went out. This last day was particularly marked by the elections and the installation of the new National Bureau and the closing ceremony of the Conference.

It is about 1 p.m., when the electoral process is set up in order to allow the YMCA observers and delegates who massively attended this ceremony, to choose the people who will have to coordinate the destiny of Cameroon-YMCA in its highest instances. This electoral process was led by Professor Monique-Aimée MOUTHIEU, épse NJANDEU, President of this Conference, accompanied by one of the patriarchs of the movement, Papa Pierre SIAGAM FIDEU.

The new National Board that has been elected is now composed of the following personalities:

  • President : Dr Alain Douglas WANDJI,
  • First vice-Présidente : Ms Irène KOTZINE,
  • Second vice-Président : Mr. Joly MBODY David Eitel,
  • Treasurer : Mr. Du Prince TCHAKOTE

It will be completed by a Special Advisor who will be elected by the National Executive Committee.

To complete the National Executive Committee, three officers were elected, namely:

  • Young Delegate : Billy Romuald FEZEU,
  • Woman Delegate : Mme Dorice MANGA,
  • Young Girl Delegate : Charelle TCHAMDJOU,

A National accounting auditor was also elected in the name of Mrs Diane Sophie PIAMEU.

The second point of this afternoon was the installation of the National Board and the National Executive Committee, the latter including, in a comprehensive way, the members of the National Board, Presidents of Regional Unions, Delegates and the Nayional Accounting Auditor previously elected. It was done by the personal representative of the Minister of Youth and Civic Education, the Minister having been unable to personally take part to the activities due to his assignments today at the top of the State. In his introductory speech, the personal representative of the Minister did not hide his satisfaction at taking part to such an important event for a Christian movement of international stature whose several activities support several programmes of his ministry.  The finalization of the Partnership Agreement in progress with the Ministry will undoubtedly lead to a better collaboration for the good of Cameroonian youth.

The last point on the closing ceremony of this event was introduced by the closing speech of the National President, during which he thanked the massive presence of officials and delegates at this event and their active contribution over the past four years. He also took the opportunity to announce the challenges facing the movement over the next four years, while inviting all leaders to get more involved.

After receiving from the hands of the President of the National Council the honorary distinctions intended for him, the words of encouragement and congratulations pronounced by the Secretary of the African Alliance of YMCAs Mrs. Rakotomalala LANTONIRINA to all the newly installed leaders were of a depth of meaning that impressed all the audience, which answered with a standing ovation. After paying a vibrant tribute to Patriarch Papa SIAGAM FIDEU Pierre by personally presenting him with the honorary distinctions provided for by the Organizing Committee, she thanked the Cameroonian State for the official recognition and encouragement of the efforts that are constantly being made at the level of Cameroon-YMCA within the framework of its missions and vision.

The festive atmosphere at the end of the day and at the closing of this event did not prevent individual or group photo sessions, handshakes and endless goodbye ceremonies. The next appointment is given for the end of the year 2023 for the assessment of the new quadrennial whose new chapter opens on the evening of this day.
